Authorities in Burgaw aim to hold more police checkpoints | 911
BURGAW, NC (WECT) - In an effort to crack down on drunk drivers, Burgaw Police Officers want to hold more checkpoints within the town.
The department bought a police cruiser three months ago after a drunk driver hit another one head-on, and the police chief has applied for a $12,000 grant to pay for equipment needed to hold one checkpoint a month, in hopes that it will convince people not to drink and drive.
The chief says he should know next month if they will receive the full grant.
