PENDER COUNTY, NC – The deadline for submission of nominations for the 2011 Outstanding Citizen Volunteer of the Year Award is February 24. The award recipient will be recognized and honored by the Pender County Board of Commissioners during National County Government Month in April 2012.
Nomination forms and instructions are available at Pender County office buildings, or public libraries in Burgaw and Hampstead. Forms and instructions may also be downloaded, or completed online at www.pendercountync.gov.
The purpose of the Pender County Outstanding Citizen Volunteer of the Year Award is to recognize and honor a Pender County citizen volunteer who has demonstrated outstanding service to the community. Nominees must have lived in Pender County for at least one year. Criteria for nomination and selection include participation in community projects, presenting a positive image of the county, demonstrating a commitment to quality of life improvement, and contributions of time, energy and leadership to enhance the Pender County community.
The Pender County Outstanding Citizen Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Leslie Andrews of Hampstead for 2009 and to Mitch Jenkins of Hampstead for 2010.
