HAMPSTEAD,NC(WECT) - The fight against cancer is getting tougher for a Topsail Middle School student and her family, and as a result, some local organizations are hosting a fundraiser.
According to a family friend, the disease has gotten worse, and Kimberly has undergone more tests and is on more medication.
That also means the medical bills are getting higher. To help out, the Sloop Point Fire and Rescue is hosting a yard sale fundraiser.
The yard sale is scheduled to take place Saturday ,Feb. 2, beginning at 8 a.m. at Sloop Point Fire and Rescue, 19470 US HWY 17 North in Hampstead.
Organizers are also looking for items to sell at the yard sale.
"We are looking for donations of all kinds of items to sell and lots of shoppers for the event," said James Helms, a volunteer. "Items may be dropped off at the Station anytime between 8 am and 10 pm 7 days a week up until the morning of the sale."
"If anyone has any large items they need help moving, we can assist in that as well. The phone number for the Station is (910)270-3267. Monetary donations are appreciated as well. Make checks payable to Sloop Point Fire Rescue and we will will see that the family gets the money. Thanks for your help."
