PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A funeral will be taking place soon for a well-known and beloved Pender County employee who died recently.
Melinda Knoerzer, who was an administrative assistant in the Pender County Utility Department, died Tuesday, according to Mickey Duvall, Pender County manager.
Knoerzer had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2009.
The celebration of life ceremony will take place Saturday at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 612 S. College Road in Wilmington at 11 a.m.
“She was one of Pender County Government’s true cornerstone employees, standing in the gap to support the county when called upon in a wide array of tasks and areas of expertise (always with a smile on her face),” said Duvall. “I count it a true privilege and honor to have had the opportunity to work with Melinda and call her my friend. Her friendship, smiling face, kind words, and uplifting personality will never be forgotten in Pender County, North Carolina.”
Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home is hosting the service, and officials there have a memory wall at www.quinnmcgowen.com to share memories and condolences with Knoerzer’s family.
