Pender Co. man charged after numerous car break-ins

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A Pender County man has been charged with breaking and entering into numerous cars in the Hampstead area over the past couple of weeks, according to the Pender County Sheriff's Office.

Zachary Daniel Waldrup, age 22, of Hampstead, reportedly took everything from GPS systems to cell phones to credit and gift cards. Officials say most of the cars were unlocked.

Waldrup was caught when he was trying to use one of the stolen cards at an ATM.

Waldrup is facing 20 counts of breaking and entering into motor vehicles and is also facing financial card theft charges, financial card fraud charges, felony and misdemeanor larceny charges, and numerous possession of stolen goods charges.

He was arrested on June 12.

Pender teens face drug, weapon charges

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Two Pender County teens face drug and weapon charges, according to a weekly intake report from the sheriff’s office.

Dashuan Jamar Pearsall, 16, and Deonte Jamal Pearsall, 19, were both charged June 5 with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dashuan was also charged with felony possession of a schedule 6 controlled substance, while Deonte was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a schedule 6 controlled substance.

UPDATE: Officials continue search for man charged with incest

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The Pender County Sheriff's Office has a new lead in the search for a man who faces several charges, including incest.

Robert Lee Earley Jr., 51, of Hampstead has been wanted by authorities since May 16, 2013, according to the Pender County Sheriff's Office.

Officials now say Earley is known to be in Wilmington, primarily in the Monkey Junction area, working odd jobs. Authorities originally thought he may have been headed to Florida.

According to the sheriff's office, Earley is driving a 1992 white Chevrolet with black side and back windows. Earley's business logo, J & S Painting, is displayed on both sides of the vehicle.

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A Burgaw man was arrested recently, facing charges connected to drugs and extraditing fugitives.

Jose David Caro-Godoy, 44, was arrested May 20 and charged with the following, according to a Pender County Sheriff’s Office jail intake report:

Burgaw man accused of indecent liberties with a child

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A 57-year-old Burgaw man was charged and arrested May 22 with indecent liberties with a child.

Authorities with the Pender County Sheriff's Office say Michael Reid Bowden was placed in the Pender County Jail under a $10,000 bond.

The victim of the alleged assault is reportedly under the age of 12.

Man pleads guilty to sex offenses involving family member and her friend

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A man in Pender County pleaded guilty Tuesday to several sex offenses involving children.

According to officials, Danny Strickland pleaded guilty to first degree sex offense with a child, indecent liberties with a child, and crimes against nature.

The judge aggravated the charges because the victims suffered severe emotional injuries and because Strickland took advantage of position of trust.

Tuesday, Strickland was sentenced to 35 years behind bars, and he will have to serve 27 of them. Wednesday, Judge Hockenbury ruled that Strickland will have to wear an ankle bracelet which will monitor him for the rest of his life, instead of the usual 30 years given for a child molestation charge.

Man accused of creating false reports charged with insurance fraud

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A man from Wilmington was arrested in Pender County Friday for alleged insurance fraud.

According to the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Sinclair Auvant Parker, 45, was charged with one count of insurance fraud and two counts each of obtaining property by false pretense and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

The NCDOI said Parker submitted four insurance claims with fraudulent invoices for property damage he claimed was the result of a vehicle accident in Buncombe County in June 2012.

Parker's insurance company paid him nearly $7,000 for two of the claims, and he's accused of trying to get an additional $12,000 through two other fraudulent claims.
