Stars spotted in Burgaw as 'Tammy' comes to town

BURGAW, NC - (WECT) - Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon were spotted in downtown Burgaw on Wednesday. The stars were in town to film the movie, Tammy.

The production set up shop in front of the Burgaw Courthouse, transforming the yard into a playground.

The film shot throughout the day, with officials directing traffic so cars didn't accidentally drive through shots.

SNEAK PEEK: Extended trailer released for 'Under the Dome'

NEW HANOVER and PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - You'll spot some familiar places in the new extended trailer for Under the Dome.

The new video was released Thursday. In it, you can see clips from scenes shot at Wilmington's Sixth Street Bridge, the Pender County Courthouse and the streets of Burgaw.

The CBS series will air this summer. It is based on a Stephen King novel about a town that suddenly becomes sealed off by a mysterious, invisible dome.

'Under the Dome' to film in Burgaw this week

BURGAW, NC (WECT) – The Town of Burgaw will turn into a set for a television drama again this week.

Under the Dome is slated to film Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week.

The CBS mini-series is based on the Stephen King novel of the same title. It takes place in a fictitious town that finds itself surrounded by a mysterious barrier that won’t allow people to travel outside it.

Carolina Strawberry Festival scheduled for May

WALLACE, NC (WECT) – The Carolina Strawberry Festival will take place May 10 and 11 in downtown Wallace, according to an event spokesperson.

Live bands will be performing, including The Band of Oz, Gaylon Pope & Sweetwater and Jim Quick & Coastline.

In addition to fresh local strawberries, there will be a pork cook-off, vendors, artists, pageants and more.

'Under the Dome' films in Burgaw

BURGAW, NC (WECT) - The new CBS show, Under the Dome, filmed in Burgaw on Monday.

Courthouse Avenue was closed and there were parking restrictions on Wilmington Street, Wright Street and Fremont Street.

The series is based in a fictitious town called Chester's Mill. The town finds itself surrounded by a mysterious barrier that won't let people travel outside of it.

The series also filmed in Burgaw earlier this month.

TV series 'Under the Dome' scheduled to film in Burgaw

BURGAW, NC (WECT) - CBS's new series Under the Dome has tentative plans to start shooting in Burgaw. According to the town, crews are planning on filming downtown on March 6 and 7.

According to CBS spokesperson Phil Gonzales, Under the Dome will star Natalie Martinez (Broken City), Colin Ford (Supernatural) and Britt Robertson.

New TV series eyeing Burgaw as filming location

BURGAW, NC (WECT) - A new television series based on the short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is looking at coming to Burgaw.

Media outlets describe the new pilot series as a modern day supernatural thriller, and Wednesday, a location manager for the show visited the town’s community building and old jailhouse.

The jailhouse was also used to shoot scenes for NBC’s Revolution.
