BURGAW, NC (WECT)- Pender County's biggest annual Halloween attraction will open Oct. 25 for scares.
The 'Haunted Jailhouse' in downtown Burgaw is geared toward kids 13 years and older -- anyone younger must be with an adult. The theme will follow the 'escaped inmate' idea, as one of the jail's most infamous events is a near-escape, hostage situation in the 1970's.
"Just being in the jail house is spooky-- the cell room beds, mirrors, old graffiti and bullet holes in some of the doors from that near-escape really just make the whole scene so unique," said organizer Adrian Carroll.
The doors will be open Oct 25, 26, 27, 30 and 31, starting at 7 p.m.
The proceeds will benefit area schools in regards to extracurriculars-- sports uniforms, field trips ,etc.
