Students learn more about health care careers

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Students at Pender Early College recently had an opportunity to gain hands-on insight into some health careers like physical therapy, occupational therapy and as an optometrist.

According to a press release from the Pender County school system, the workshop used different stations to teach about each career opportunity.

The students began by learning about universal precautions with a station that emphasized the importance of hand washing by demonstrating how easily germs can spread.

There was another station that used therapy putty to show one exercise an occupational therapist would use for finger strengthening.

The Physical Therapy station featured Thera bands for facilitated stretching.
