YWCA Lower Cape Fear receives $15, 000 grant award for the fluid recovery program

News Release from YWCA:

(Wilmington, NC, May, 2013) -  The YWCA Lower Cape Fear is pleased to announce that it has received a $15,000 grant from the Cape Fear Memorial Foundation for the Fluid Recovery program, which was developed in partnership with the Pretty in Pink Foundation. The Fluid Recovery program is modeled after the YWCA USA’s Encoreplus program that was created over 30 years ago.

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) –  A noncompetitive walk event for dogs and owners will take place Saturday in Pender County, according to a webpage on behalf of the American Cancer Society.

Bark For Life of Pender County will take place April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Surf City Soundside Park, benefitting the American Cancer Society.

SOUTHEASTERN NC (WECT) - A local charity is in the running to get some big bucks, and there's still time to vote.

Adopt-an-Angel is in the top 200 for a $25,000 State Farm Grant.

The group encourages pet adoptions in New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick Counties.

Malpass Corner Elementary holds Fundraiser for Relay for Life

CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WECT) - On Thursday April, 4 come out and support the American Cancer Society’s Relay for life of Pender County at Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes and Fires located at 6001 Castle Hayne Road.

The Malpass Corner Elementary school is hosting the fundraiser and a portion of each sale during this time period will be donated to the school’s relay for life team. This event will take place at 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Adult Services to get grant to support volunteer opportunities

Adult Services to get grant to support volunteer opportunities

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Senior volunteer activities in Pender County are getting support from the Corporation for National Community Service.

Pender Adult Services is getting a $65,000 grant as part of a competitive grant process for a program that engages people who are 55 years and over in volunteer opportunities.

The mayor of Burgaw said the grant will allow seniors to use their skills and wisdom to improve the lives of their fellow citizens and help the entire community.

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Relay For Life of Pender County is in need of some items for a raffle tent, according to the Greater Topsail Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism’s Facebook page.

Items like raffle baskets, gift items, gift cards and more are needed.
