TRAFFIC ALERT: One lane to be closed on Wilmington Highway

WATHA, NC (WECT) - The North Carolina DOT is working on bridge repairs causing one lane to close on Wilmington Highway (US-421) near Englishtown Road in Pender County on Monday, June 17 to Friday, June 21.

This closure will take place from 8:30am to 4:30pm each day. Crews are working maintenance to the pipe culvert on the bridge.

Be cautious when traveling through the work zone and plan for delays.

Stars spotted in Burgaw as 'Tammy' comes to town

BURGAW, NC - (WECT) - Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon were spotted in downtown Burgaw on Wednesday. The stars were in town to film the movie, Tammy.

The production set up shop in front of the Burgaw Courthouse, transforming the yard into a playground.

The film shot throughout the day, with officials directing traffic so cars didn't accidentally drive through shots.

BURGAW, NC (WECT) - If you're traveling in Burgaw Friday or Saturday, you may hit some traffic.

Crews are going to be filming scenes for the movie Tammy, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation sent out a list of streets where congestion could take place during peak travel times.

Those streets include: Wilmington Street, Malpass Cornor Road near NC 210, Walker Street near NC 53, and Bell Williams Road near NC 210. 

One of the scenes is being filmed in the courthouse square, where a playground has been set up.

Officers will be on site directing traffic.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Lanes to close on I-40 for routine inspections

 

BURGAW, NC (WECT) –The North Carolina DOT will close the eastbound lane on I- 40 at Mile Maker 393 near Camp Kirkwood Road on  Monday,May 20 through Thursday, May 23.

The closure will take place at 8:30 am to 4:30pm each day. 

This closure is necessary so DOT can perform routine inspections on the overpass.

Plan for delays and add extra time to your commute.

'Click it or Ticket' campaign celebrates 20 years

'Click it or Ticket' campaign celebrates 20 years

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Monday, May 20th marks the 20th anniversary of North Carolina DOT “Click or Ticket” campaign.

According to the press release, North Carolina was the first state to launch this safety program in 1993.

The release also states, The Click it or Ticket campaign runs through Memorial Day weekend and ends on June 2nd.  During this time officers will cite driver’s state wide who do not buckle up.
